This month I’ll be providing musical accompaniment at the Sunday afternoon Jazz Vespers services at St. Peter’s in midtown Manhattan. These hour-long services take place on Sundays at 5 p.m. (July 10, July 17, July 24, July 31). If you’re out of town, you can watch the services on YouTube here: https://www.saintpeters.org/stream and more information can be found at https://www.saintpeters.org/events
I’ve been attending Jazz Vespers services, Lunchtime jazz concerts, and memorial services for jazz musicians at St. Peter’s since I moved to NYC in 1995. It’s a place for everyone, and its mission is inclusivity. Its message is based in love.
One of the perks of having a residency is I get to choose five different musicians with whom I will perform (the last week is a trio). All of the musicians I’m playing with are also compassionate, generous human beings, and it comes out in the music. I’m really looking forward to this in so many ways: musically, spiritually, and after two years (and counting…), reconnecting.
